Proprietary Objects While the BACnet Standard (ANSI/ASHRAE 135-2004) defines required objects and properties, it also provides manufacturers the freedom to create proprietary objects or properties of objects. Such moves, however, can block true interoperability. AACs Vs. ACSs In BACnet terms, Application Specific Controllers (ASCs) offer limited resources and limited functionality compared to Advance Application Controllers (AACs). A controller can be designed to the higher requirements of the AAC device profile even if it is used for specific applications. All KMC controllers were designed to meet and exceed the AAC device profile.
Programmabiltiy As is the case for standard DDC controllers, you want programmability for BACnet controllers. Be careful. Some manufacturers provide only factory programmed devices. Or, they may offer "configurable" devices. All KMC BACnet controllers are Fully Field Programmable.
BTL Listed A "listing" from the BACnet Testing Laboratory (BTL) is your assurance that BACnet devices not only meet the standard, but the more rigid test requirements of the BTL. BTL testing demands a greater level of engineering commitment from manufacturers. All KMC Advanced Application Controllers are BTL Listed.
